The Lafayette Brawlin’ Dolls are ready to begin their fall season and to debut their newest skaters. Join LBD on Saturday, Sept. 19 at the Tippecanoe County Fairgrounds for a game against the Fort Wayne Happy Campers. Marmadillo, Skittles McBoom, Scar of David and Marga-rex are among those that skated in their first scrimmage against Kokomo City of Fists in July. Plenty of the LBD veterans remain active members of the team as well.

The Lafayette Brawlin’ Dolls closed out their 2014 season with a 211-123 home win vs. the Aurora 88s Saturday (Nov. 15). Mad-eye Molly led the way with 80 points and was named the Most Valuable Jammer. Psycho Socializer was also honored after the game. LBD finished its 2014 season with a 3-6 record, winning two of its final three games.

Arctic Wolfsbane returned to the track after missing most of the second half of the 2014 season due to injury. Nicole’d Blooded made her team debut. Fellow newcomers Gina in a Throttle, Miley’s Vyrus and Roller Vortex skated alongside LBD vets like Bang A. Rang, Dreaded Thunder, the Liberator and Rampage. Biscuits ‘N Crazy and Get Shorty coached the team and ran the bench.

Unfortunately, all of LBD’s home events in the spring of 2015 are tentatively slated to be closed scrimmages. The first official home game of the 2015 season is tentatively set for Saturday, Sept. 19 vs. the Happy Camper Rollergirls of Fort Wayne. However, the Brawlin’ Dolls are scheduled to skate in road games in Fort Wayne, Ohio, Fishers and Muncie before closing out the 2015 campaign with three straight home dates (tentatively set for Sept. 19, Oct. 18 & Nov. 14). Home games will continue to be held at the Tippecanoe County Fairgrounds.

Dreaded Thunder was elected as a team captain again for 2015 and will share the captaincy with Mad-eye Molly.

BELOIT, Wis. — The Lafayette Brawlin’ Dolls overcame a 33-point halftime deficit to take the lead early in the second half, but the Beloit Bombshells blew the game open over the final 15 minutes in a 246-174 final Saturday evening.

LBD welcomed back Arwen Leavin’ Scars, who recently moved to Nashville, and added visiting skater Trauma Cass from the South Shore Roller Girls to its travel roster to give the team a 10-skater lineup Saturday. But the home team had a bit more depth, and that coupled with the final four power jams going in favor of the Bombshells proved to be the difference in the game. Additionally, Dreaded Thunder and Trauma Cass fouled out for the Brawlin’ Dolls in the second half after being whistled for seven penalties apiece.

LBD opened the second half on 38-0 run thanks to successful power jams for Trauma Cass and Mad-eye Molly. It was Mad-eye’s extended 29-point power jam that gave LBD a 105-100 lead, its first advantage since starting the second jam of the night with a 4-0 edge.

But Beloit answered with a 32-3 run over the next six jams to surge ahead again. Another 14-point power jam by Mad-eye helped the Brawlin’ Dolls get back into the game, making the score 140-130 just before the midpoint of the second half. But the Bombshells blew the game open from then on, outscoring LBD 106-44 the rest of the game. And 20 of LBD’s 44 points during that stretch came from Psycho Socializer on an extended final jam.

Coquette Threat’s 14-2 scoring advantage on a power jam late in the first half cut the Brawlin’ Dolls’ deficit to 71-57. The Beloit jammer was called for a double penalty to help cancel out what looked like it would be a power jam for the home team. But a pair of power jams late in the first half helped the Bombshells put together a 29-10 run to end the first half.

Thunder and Psycho each made it through the pack twice as the lead jammer in the first 15 minutes of the game for LBD’s top-scoring jams until Coque took advantage of her chance late in the half.

The Brawlin’ Dolls close out their 2014 season Saturday (Nov. 15) with a home game against the Aurora 88s. Doors open at 6 p.m. and action begins at 7 p.m. Tickets are $10 presale or $12 at the door.
